DISH Network was one of the first adopters of cryptocurrency payment back in 2014 when it added Bitcoin. A few days ago, the company website addressed the addition of another cryptocurrency. It chose Bitcoin’s fork and competitor Bitcoin Cash to be the second cryptocurrency in the payment option.

DISH Network has an increasing customer base of over 13.7 million subscribers. It is a win-win for both Dish Network and Bitcoin Cash. DISH network’s massive customer base is bound to help Bitcoin Cash start getting recognised by groups of people who have no idea how to use cryptocurrency. While DISH Network will use Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash to help the customers from numerous locations using it’s service such as North America, Europe and South America make cross-border payments to continue using the service.

John Swieringa, the executive vice president and chief operating officer of DISH, spoke about the high preference for users to pay through cryptocurrencies.

He also spoke about Bitcoin Cash being added saying-added that a steady volume of customers paying with cryptocurrency each month.

We’ve added Bitcoin Cash just as we chose to accept Bitcoin to serve customers who have adopted a new way of doing business.

DISH Network will also be using BitPay’s network for crypto transactions.

Swieringa spoke about Bitpay’s role

We have a steady volume of customers paying with cryptocurrency each month, and BitPay will allow us to continue offering more choice and convenience to our customers.

Sonny Singh, Chief Commercial Officer of BitPay, was delighted with the partnership with DISH Network. He said-

Our goal for DISH Network is a seamless transition to BitPay so all customers who are currently paying for services with Bitcoin continue to have the option to pay with Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash. Cryptocurrency is an increasingly popular way for consumers to make purchases online as it reduces credit card fraud and is cheaper for the merchants.

A Reddit user by the name of ‘freedombit’, wrote about Bitcoin’s increase of payment fees, which led him to stop using crypto payments for DISH network. However, with Bitcoin Cash’s no-fee transfers, there is hope again for him to use the crypto payment service again.

Oh nice! I started with Dish a few years ago because they accepted Bitcoin. I was going to drop them here soon because they still only accepted Bitcoin Core and not Bitcoin Cash. I stopped paying with Bitcoin when fees increased. Looks like I can start using crypto again and save them a few dollars in credit card fees every month. For those that do not know, they offer Internet and VoiP phone services as well as their TV entertainment channel packages.”
