Madonna Partners up with Philanthropic Crypto Ripple for Malawi Charity

Ripple has proved naysayers of cryptocurrency wrong by giving back to the community. Ripple has done plenty of philanthropic activities concerning donations for various NGO’s during this year.

In March $29 million was donated to the non-profit organisation DonorsChoose.org while in June Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse together with Chris Larsen who co-founded Ripple donated to GiveCrypto. GiveCrypto is a crypto charity launched by Coinbase CEO, Brian Armstrong.

In May Ripple took it up a notch when Ashton Kutcher donated $4 million live on Ellen De Genere’s show. The donation was towards Ellen’s very own charity towards wildlife called The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund.

The latest donation by Ripple is a tie-up with popular and legendary singer Madonna. They will together raise funds for the Rising Malawi foundation, which is owned by Madonna and screenwriter Michael Berg. Ripple will match up to the contributions made by donating an equal amount of XRP.

The lovely gesture by Ripple and Madonna comes at a time to mark Madonna’s 60th birthday which is on August 16th.

The campaign will run for a month from July 30th to August 31. It has already achieved in gaining $199,462 on the eighth day itself.

The Rising Malawi Foundation has helped more than 10,000 children by giving food, healthcare and education. Malawi is one of the poorest nations with 50% of its population living below poverty. Thus such a move by Ripple is a lovely gesture towards the African country that is being neglected by the world.

Eric van Miltenburg, senior vice president of business operations in Ripple, said, “We’re honored to be a part of Raising Malawi’s amazing work with some of the world’s most underserved children and are grateful to our investors at Sound Ventures for making the introduction to us and this important cause.”

Bank XRP, a dedicated Ripple twitter user, tweeted the news

This tweet brought in a response from a user called Mr Dunn who along with his wife has been taking care of Malawi orphans.  He is an apparent holder of XRP tokens and wants Ripple to help them out too.

With Ripple’s good heart, it won’t be surprising if they do something for Mr Dunn’s request of helping the orphans!
