Blockchain Association – A Washington Based Blockchain Lobbying Group

Leading players in the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency space have formed together to create a Blockchain Lobbying Group in the United States. It is called the Blockchain Association in Washington and will compromise of investors such as Digital currency Group and notable American Cryptocurrency Exchange Coinbase.
The Blockchain Association will be a unified voice which will look into the regulations and helping in educating the lawmakers and policymakers in the field of Blockchain and Cryptocurrency.
Blockchain Association is building an efficient team, which has Kristin Smith heading the group as of now as the External Affairs Director. Kristin Smith has looked into the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency lobbying for Overstock.com. OverStock.com created a name for itself by being the first online retailer to accept Bitcoin way back in 2014.
Tax laws pertaining to Know-Your-Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) is the main focus for the Blockchain Association.
Smith said spoke about her excitement on being part of the lobbyist group-
I’ve been spending a lot of time doing a lot of the basic education work in this space. I’m excited to focus exclusively on these issues.
The chief legal and risk officer at Coinbase, Mike Lempres commented on the Blockchain Lobbying Group-
The Blockchain Association is an effort to get the preeminent companies in the space together so policymakers know they’re hearing from companies that welcome regulation when it’s appropriate. We’re not companies looking to game the system, but trying to develop a legal and regulatory system that’ll stand the test of time.
Blockchain and Cryptocurrency enthusiasts are happy for the representation as shown by Twitter user ‘Raymond’ reply on the news.

The Blockchain Association is not the first lobby on behalf of Blockchain and Cryptocurrency. The Bitcoin foundation founded back in 2012 faced financial difficulties in 2015 and thus struggled to solve the task at hand.
