The largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world by traded volume- Binance is excited to announce it is now collaborating with the Malta Stock Exchange to set a blockchain-powered trading platform dedicated to security tokens trading.
According to a press release made public on 11 September, the fintech subsidiary of the Malta Stock Exchange – MSX has signed a partnership agreement with crypto giant Binance. The two organizations have pledged to launch a security tokens exchange on the Maltese territory.
“Malta is taking the helm of regulating blockchain technology and cultivating a center of excellence within the global digital innovation landscape,” Malta Stock Exchange chairman Joe Portelli explained.
This is the latest collaboration between Binance and Maltese organizations, pushing the island-country a few steps forward to reach the title of “Blockchain Island”.

Back in July, the cryptocurrency trading platform revealed its intentions to create an innovative environment for the country to become the first one in the world to own a decentralized tokenized bank.
“We are excited to continue to help build the blockchain ecosystem in Malta, which has become a global hub for blockchain technology through active and transparent crypto regulations,” CEO Changpeng Zhao claimed.
He added:
“This partnership will allow Binance and MSX to host traditional financial assets on blockchain technology through security tokens. We look forward to bringing more innovations to Malta and further establishing our presence here.”
Binance is not the first crypto project to move this way in Malta. Chinese platform OKEx has recently signed a similar memorandum of understanding MoU with the Malta Stock Exchange to work on the release of a security token exchange.
“Malta is on the cusp of becoming a center of excellence within the global digital innovation landscape,” Portelli said at the time.
“We are thrilled to be teaming up with OKEx, a leader in the digital currency sector, to leverage our expertise on the compliance and regulatory front to truly be a trailblazer within the security token sector.”
With such fast steps, Malta will soon become a truly “Blockchain Island”.
