Australians Can pay Bills with Cryptocurrencies thanks to New Partnership

3 min read

Australia is looking at adapting cryptocurrencies into the day to day life of their citizens. What better way to implement cryptocurrencies than by allowing people to pay bills using it. A partnership by Cryptocurrency Exchange Cointree and Billing Platform Gobbill, Australians can pay bills easily with cryptocurrencies.

Cointree started off slow in 2013. However, Australians have grown to love it with more than 60,000 members and 100 million transactions completed successfully. Thus being part of a payment system for bills using cryptocurrencies was the right step for Colintree.

Gobbill has catered to Australians automatically paying bills and invoices, using a centralised payment system so that it is easy to switch banks and service providers.

What the Companies have to say

Gobbill’s co-founder Shendon Ewans was thrilled with the inclusion of cryptocurrencies and highlighted the need for security of payments. Ewans said

“Digital currencies are becoming mainstream, and our view at Gobbill is to support customer choice and convenience. We anticipate a surge in the number of customers who would like to pay their bills in crypto in the coming years. Our partnership with Cointree will cater to this market and ensure Gobbill continues to remain ahead of the curve when it comes to allowing our users to pay their bills automatically, while knowing they’re protected from fraud and scams.”

Cointree’s Operations manager, Jess Rendon explained the growth of users paying their bills in cryptocurrency. Rendon said-

“Last year alone we [Cointree] had about $100 million of bills paid and saw ten times growth in this payment feature.”

Twitter user ‘Robert’ replied about Australia’s massive adaptation of Bitcoin to a Tweet by a user ‘Iknownothing’ about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies being overpriced.

Australia is ensuring that cryptocurrencies just like credit cards, debit cards and net banking are becoming a general mode of payment.

Reddit user ‘lightman_sam’ commented on the latest announcement.

“Nice! To be fair though, Livingroomofsatoshi allows you to do the same thing. I wonder if the rates are different.”

Living Room of Satoshi was the first Australian based startup which allowed cryptocurrencies to be used for bill payments and has already carried out $5 million worth of cryptocurrency in bill payments.
