Ripple Appointed Bill Clinton as a Keynote Speaker at Swell Conference

San Francisco-based company Ripple enjoys enormous publicity these days after it revealed that former US President Bill Clinton will give the main presentation at the upcoming Swell conference.

Hi Traders,

Swell is a conference powered entirely by the Californian company Ripple, set to be held between 1 and 2 October 2018, San Francisco. This is an event that “connects the world’s leading experts on policy, payments, and technology for the most provocative dialog in global payments today,” as described on the official website.

Asked about the reason behind the decision of choosing the main speaker at the upcoming conference, Ripple said that Bill Clinton has “helped usher in a period of extreme growth and adoption of the Internet, shaping what it is today.

He also established programs that bridged the ‘digital divide’ and brought new technology to underserved communities around the world,” a statement published on 31 July reads.

Ripple has had controversial advertising in last week, mainly due to comments regarding Ripple’s coin XRP. Several commentators have claimed that XRP “wasn’t a cryptocurrency,” while financial institutions have begun to reject any interaction with it.

Earlier this year, Ripple’s CEO said he knew of banks planning to use the XRP cryptocurrency. Today, Ripple execs are quoted in Reuters saying that banks aren’t interested in using XRP or cryptocurrencies,” Bitcoin writer Nathaniel Popper responded to Schwartz in June.

Bill Clinton’s records registered outside his mandate as president still persist in the minds of many of us. However, it seems that this has created even more controversial reactions in the online environment.

The announcement comes weeks after the aggressive discussion between Schwartz and fintech developer Preston Byrne drew the attention of Twitter users. These two have contradicted Ripple’s act in developing XRP.

In addition to his keynote presentation at Swell conference, Bill Clinton will attend a moderate event by his former advisor and National Economic Council Director Gene Sperling.
